Preparing Competent, Committed, Professional Teachers for a Diverse, Democratic Society

 
Adolescence to Young Adult
Preparation for teaching a specific content area in grades 7-12.

Students choose one of the following areas for licensure and complete a major in that area. Students will complete a minor in Education. For a list of acceptable courses from any specific area, choose the content area below.

Required Education Courses

  • EDUC 110: Role of the School
  • EDUC 251: Educational Psychology
  • EDUC 369: Field Practicum
  • EDUC 370: Secondary Teaching: Knowledge and Practice
  • EDUC 377: Teaching Workshop: Supporting and Extending the Learning
  • EDUC 471, 472, 473: Secondary Student Teaching
  • EDUC 474: Being and Becoming a Professional
  • The appropriate methods course chosen from: EDUC 365: Math, EDUC 366: English and Language Arts and EDUC 353: Developmental Reading, EDUC 367: Science, EDUC 368: Social Studies
  • College level mathematics course

Students must also meet university graduation requirements.
